Minocqua board approves boat-rental and vehicle-sale conditional-use permits, with fire department oversight; stormwater connection cleared

The Minocqua Board of Supervisors on May 5 approved multiple local business permitting items and a property stormwater connection, while noting safety and inspection concerns.
The board forwarded Conditional Use Permit #19-26 for R&R Rentals LLC (applicants Tom and Cody Ryden; Alder Partners LLC owner) to the county with a recommendation to approve. The permit covers boat rentals and retail sales, indoor showroom space, and outdoor boat staging at 212 W. Chicago Ave (former Bolger Funeral Home). Minocqua Fire Chief Rich Carani flagged prior fire inspection and electrical concerns and said part of the building appears to be collapsing; the board allowed the business to open but directed Chief Carani to work with the owner on compliance and timelines. Tom Ryden said they "will not be using that portion of the building" and that Rick Clem inspected the building's electrical and the owner is addressing corrections.
The board also approved Conditional Use Permit #13-26 for applicant Nick Trapp (NBT Properties LLC) to display and sell vehicles and operate dog grooming and retail sales at 8714/8724 STH 47 (Ages Past Antique Mall property). The county defined the allowable display area as the land between the right-of-way and in front of Building A, providing room for about 3–4 vehicles; Plan Commission minutes noted parking requirements have been met. Supervisor Brian Fricke moved to approve and Supervisor Erika Petersen seconded; the voice vote was recorded as carried.
Separately, the board approved a request from Bill Fricke Jr. to connect a proposed patio and structure at 201 W. Chicago Ave (PIN MI-3363) to the town stormwater management system to satisfy a county requirement; Director of Public Works Mark Pertile reported no objections.
Motions related to CUPs and the stormwater connection were recorded as voice votes and carried; the town forwarded the CUPs to the county as appropriate for final county action.
