The Minocqua Board of Supervisors on May 5 reaffirmed authorization for the Lakeland Airport Commission to buy a parcel adjacent to Lakeland Airport, Parcel Identification Number 2-606 (1821 North Farming Road, Town of Arbor Vitae).
Chairman Mark Hartzheim said the separate vote was required because the joint owners’ meeting was not adequately posted and each owner municipality is taking individual action. The board approved a motion that authorizes the Lakeland Airport Commission to purchase the property, with financing through a line of credit from People's State Bank and conditions that the property be surveyed and divided, that the commission retain the vacant portion and the house/remainder be sold, and that the line of credit be closed when the purchase-and-sale is complete.
The motion was made by Supervisor Brian Fricke and seconded by Supervisor Erika Petersen; the voice vote was recorded as carried.
The board’s action reiterates prior authorization while adding explicit terms about parcel division, sale of the house portion, and the financing mechanism. The decision does not itself transfer title; the purchase will proceed under the terms the board approved and standard closing requirements.
Next steps: the Lakeland Airport Commission and participating owners will complete the survey and closing processes specified in the authorization; the town’s approval is subject to the recorded conditions.
