The Bethany Public Schools Board voted to approve a $200 back-to-school stipend for all district staff for the 2026–27 school year, to be paid in August from the general fund.
Administrators framed the payment as one of three routine, small year-to-year stipend disbursements the district provides — an early-year stipend, a midyear payment around Thanksgiving and an end-of-year checkout stipend — and as a modest recruitment and appreciation tool for staff. Trustees discussed how the stipend differs from last summer’s retention bonus but endorsed the appropriateness of a modest allotment to help staff with supplies.
A motion to approve the $200 stipend passed by roll-call vote.
