A representative of the Hayward Lakes and Visitors Convention Bureau told the Sawyer County Board that spring marketing campaigns produced strong engagement and that preliminary economic‑impact figures for the county were trending positive.
The bureau reported two televised segments on Fox 6 (Milwaukee), an April Facebook promotion that produced about 1,800 clicks with roughly 1,500 "engaged" clicks, and a Star Tribune placement that brought more engaged visits. The bureau said a Midwest Outdoors email campaign generated 157 clicks (144 engaged), and two YouTube campaigns produced about 515,000 video views for awareness and 34,500 clicks for demand generation.
"Spring fishing performed very, very well," the bureau representative said, summarizing strong interest in fishing and other outdoor recreation. The representative said detailed economic‑impact numbers would be released the following day and that most neighboring counties were also trending positive.
Board members asked whether Northwest Regional Planning Commission representatives were online; none were present. The bureau representative said a fuller report would be provided to the board when the final economic‑impact release is available.
