The Sawyer County Administrative Committee approved the supervisors' rules and procedure manual but decided to postpone action on personnel-policy updates, including newly drafted AI-use guidance.
Human Resources presented a draft employee manual update that would add an AI policy focused on usage guidance rather than endorsing or naming specific tools. "We have no policy, but we need one because people are using it," the HR presenter said. Committee members raised procedural concerns, saying the personnel updates were not attached to the public agenda and requested more time to review language. Supervisors also engaged in a lengthy discussion about Zoom attendance, late arrivals and per diem eligibility; several members said current practice allowed some supervisors to claim per diem despite limited participation by Zoom or arriving late.
The committee initially approved the supervisors' rules (motion made and seconded earlier in the meeting) but subsequently voted to table itemized personnel-policy updates — including the AI language and suggested changes to Zoom/per-diem procedures — for the June administrative committee meeting to allow full review and corrected posting.
