Chester Harbor Management Commission approves April minutes, reports 11 mooring permits and DEEP pump-out update

The Chester Harbor Management Commission met May 6, 2026, at the Chester Town Hall Community Room and approved the April meeting minutes. Commissioner Hays moved to approve the minutes; Commissioner Devanney seconded and the motion carried.
The commission reported ongoing progress on its work and said it will schedule longer meetings to finish outstanding items. Commissioners recorded 11 mooring permit applications to date and noted that Chester Point will be cutting back; a site visit at Ernstoff was described as having gone well.
During the Harbor Master update, meeting participants reported that a pump-out meeting with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) went well. The update noted that the pump-out service is not intended for commercial vessels. A participant identified only as Peter said buoys are needed at the Cedar Lake silt-fence location.
Under new business the commission recorded that there will be no July meeting; other summer meetings will be scheduled as needed. The commission also noted that an "Oling" permitting switch is active as of July 1 and asked staff to confirm that all harbor meeting minutes are posted on the town website.
Commissioner King moved to adjourn; Commissioner Chillock seconded and the meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
