The North Berwick Select Board reorganized and handled routine town business at its April 21 meeting.
The board elected Selectperson Michael Johnson Jr. chair for the ensuing year and Selectperson Jonathan Hall vice chair; the motion to elect both officers passed 5-0. The board approved committee assignments—Wendy Cowan and Rebecca Reed to the Fair Hearing Committee; Michael Johnson Jr. and Jonathan Hall to the Labor Committee; and Michael Johnson Sr. to the Rescue Committee—and approved the minutes from the April 7 meeting, VOTE: 4-0-1.
In personnel and appointment business, the board accepted Rebecca Reed's resignation from the Zoning Board of Appeals and appointed Charles Galemmo to fill the seat through Dec. 31, 2029 (motion amended and approved 5-0). The board also appointed Ryan Gosser as a second alternate to the Planning Board through 2027, 5-0.
The board approved allowing employees to carry one week and one day of vacation into the next fiscal year for this year to accommodate Juneteenth being banked late in the fiscal cycle; the motion passed 5-0. The board also voted to cancel the July 21, 2026 meeting due to staff vacation schedules.
Finally, Selectperson Jonathan Hall moved to accept warrants dated April 14, 2026 ($11,370.71) and April 21, 2026 ($793,618.44); the board approved the warrants 5-0. No controversial debate was recorded on these agenda items.
