Lebanon County 250th celebration: committee outlines final plans, sponsorships and estimated costs

Organizers of Lebanon County's 250th celebration told commissioners the July 4 event at the Expo Center is largely in place but that planners still need volunteers for parking and help covering outstanding bills.
Bonnie Lloyd, chair of the 250 Committee, described several attractions to be displayed at the event, including Revolutionary War artifacts provided by David Geiger and a series of historical reenactors and wagons. Lloyd said the committee expects two ceremonies (a 1 p.m. opening ceremony and a later official ceremony) with bands, a car show from 5 to 8 p.m., food trucks, a children's area and other family-friendly programming. Organizers said Lebanon Transit would provide free bus service from key pickup points to the Expo throughout the event.
Tom Newmaster and other committee members described a commemorative 68-page program produced with sponsor ads and said most event costs have been covered by sponsorships and fundraising. Committee leaders estimated the total two-year outlay related to the event at about $125,000 and said they currently have a small surplus but still face bills to pay prior to the event.
The board approved two outdoor advertising invoices for digital billboards to promote the event and approved a hotel-tax grant request for the Lebanon Area Fair, which organizers said will help with event advertising and online ticketing. Commissioners encouraged organizers to continue sponsorship outreach and to forward operational questions and any additional funding needs to county staff for follow-up.
Organizers said final logistical updates and a sign-up link for volunteers are on the event website, lebanonpa250.com. Commissioners thanked the committee and acknowledged the role of volunteers and sponsors in making the multi-day county celebration possible.
