Otis Select Board refers Seasonal Communities designation to Planning Board, seeks Master Plan steering committee members

At the April 14 meeting the Otis Select Board agreed to return the Seasonal Communities designation to the Planning Board for further review, with members saying key parts of the program are still being resolved.
Brandi Page read the state website description of the designation, noting it was created as part of the Affordable Homes Act signed Aug. 6, 2024, that the law authorizes $5.16 billion in spending over five years and created a Seasonal Communities Advisory Council.
The Board will seek 7–9 members for a Master Plan steering committee to update the town’s Master Plan; Brandi read the desired stakeholder positions and the Board expects to appoint members on April 28. Stacey Schultze presented the Revitalization Committee’s quarterly report and asked whether the committee should continue; the Board clarified that these are one‑year appointments and will be included with the annual reappointments.
Why it matters: the Seasonal Communities designation and Master Plan update are planning actions that could affect local housing policy and town planning priorities. The referral to the Planning Board delays any town-level decision while allowing more detailed review.
