The Finance & Operations Committee voted to move a sidewalk‑deferment request for 894 Middle Street to the full board for approval after staff told the committee there is no current need for a sidewalk at that location.
Miss Landon presented the request and said she had consulted the district’s director of transportation and director of security, who both agreed the sidewalk is not needed "today, tomorrow, or within the next 5 or 10 years," and that there are no students walking to a school from that location. She moved to forward the request; the committee voted in favor to send it to the full board.
Miss Landon also noted that the planning commission and city-level authorities are responsible for broader sidewalk decisions and that the district’s review was limited to potential impact on students and district operations. The full board will consider the planning commission item at an upcoming meeting.
