At the July 8 meeting, the Abbot Public Library Board of Trustees completed routine governance and financial business, electing officers for the coming fiscal year and approving membership dues and vendor invoices.
Trustees voted to appoint Gary Amberik as chair, John Williams as vice chair and Kathy Barker as secretary; Deb Payson will serve as Abbot Public Library Foundation liaison and David Ross as 2nd Century Fund liaison. The board approved professional memberships totaling $300 for ALA/ALSC/PLA and $200 for the Rotary Club of Marblehead.
In the chairman’s report the board reviewed invoices, including an LD Russo invoice for $177,775 (May) with two additional invoices anticipated before a final payment once the punch list is complete, and a CHA invoice for $12,000 (June). Wakefield had not yet submitted an invoice; the director noted some breakages during the move and outstanding storage-room work. The board moved and approved the invoices on the agenda.
The trustees also discussed how to handle landscaping invoices, with options including private funds and APLF support; they will review the accounts and a way forward at the next trustee meeting. The next regular meeting was set for Aug. 5.
