Town Council approves routine measures: AMR renewal, administrative pay plan, tax refunds and appointments

The Newington Town Council used its June 10 meeting to clear several routine but important municipal measures.
Reappointment of AMR: The council voted to authorize the town manager to renew the town's contract with AMR for emergency medical services through June 30, 2026, with no other changes to the contract terms. The motion, made by Councilor Tinyakis and seconded by Councilor Ford, carried unanimously.
Administrative pay plan: Council approved the 2025–26 administrative group classification and pay plan pursuant to section 902 of the town charter. The vote was unanimous.
Tax refunds: Property tax refunds certified by the revenue collector totaling $857.20 were approved unanimously.
Minutes and appointment: The council accepted minutes from the May 13 public hearing and regular meeting and the May 27 regular meeting. Council also appointed Shilene Pender to the Commission on Aging and Disabled for a term through Nov. 30, 2026; that appointment was approved unanimously.
These measures were presented as part of the consent and old‑business portions of the agenda and were approved without amendment or recorded opposition. Councilors and staff indicated follow‑up on other items (tax incentive policy, Garfield Street project) will return to future meetings.
