Resident raises maintenance and safety concerns about fairgrounds playground; commissioners agree to follow up

During the public-comment period, Carrie Logan of Sandpoint urged commissioners to address maintenance and safety needs at the fairgrounds playground, saying the site has no garbage can, lacks a porta-potty and needs regular equipment safety checks.
"It appears it's been mowed, but there's no garbage can and there's no porta potty," Logan said. She asked whether the fairboard or the county was responsible for ongoing maintenance and noted potential liability from insufficient upkeep.
Commissioners said parks took responsibility for maintenance last season and that county staff previously provided porta-potty funding; they agreed to bring parks staff and the fairboard back to the next meeting to clarify maintenance schedules, porta-potty placement and any necessary budget adjustments.
The board directed staff to add the topic to the next Tuesday agenda for follow-up with parks and the fairgrounds board.
