The Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety approved three community-event requests on Wednesday: a downtown sidewalk sale, the city operating this year's all-class alumni reunion, and an added free concert at Bulldog Park.
Liz, who identified herself as the owner of a shop at 118 South Main Street, requested permission to hold a sidewalk sale July 16— 19; the board approved the request with proposed hours discussed during the presentation (weekday hours and weekend hours as read into the record).
PACE staff (Jenny) asked the board to operate the alumni all-class reunion as a city event on Aug. 1 for this year only after the alumni group experienced logistical problems. Jenny said attendees who had purchased tickets would be refunded through the alumni association; the event itself will be free to the public, with the class of 1984 paying for entertainment and the city arranging food vendors and venue support.
On the added free concert, staff clarified that the entertainment costs would be paid by Rick Cox, and that PACE would provide social media promotion, marketing and technical assistance; legal staff reported no concerns. The board approved the concert inclusion in the city's concert season (scheduled July 11).
All motions passed by voice vote. Staff said communications will publicize the sidewalk sale and events.
