Trustees approve policy updates and discuss Shattuck Fund grant for playground blocks

At the Aug. 5 meeting trustees reviewed several draft policies and approved updates to the Cartin Gallery, Borrowing and Meeting Room policies with edits and subject to town legal review.
Director Kimberly Grad supplied draft policies including an Event Center contract, Meeting Room Policy, Security Camera Policy and Use of Gallery Space (Cartin Gallery). Trustees voted by roll call to accept the specified updates and directed the director to submit the drafts to town legal for further edits.
The board also discussed funding opportunities. The director noted an application window to the Shattuck Memorial Fund with a Sept. 6 deadline and proposed purchasing Imagination Playground "Big Blue Blocks" for the courtyard. Trustees reviewed the draft request but the minutes show no formal vote on that application. Grad also reported planned requests to the Second Century Fund for additional hotspots and laptops and noted other community partnerships and events involving the Killam Foundation and Rotary Clubs of Marblehead.
Trustees set the next meeting for Sept. 9 and recorded that building ramp bids and landscaping will be discussed in September.
