Abbot Public Library reports renovation progress, donor wall and art partnership with Marblehead Arts Association

Library Director Kimberly Grad told trustees the renovation punch list remains active as staff finish reinstallation and cleaning tasks and finalize donor-wall production with the APLF.
The board reviewed storage-room cleanout and shelf reinstallation needs, an eight-week timeline for clearing surplus items at 3 Brook Road, and plans to seek Select Board approval in the fall for roadside directional signage to the Pleasant Street facility. Maintenance issues since reopening July 10 included three calls to ASAP Drains to clear clogged staff toilets; the library contracted Shamrock Shiners for carpet and post move-in cleaning in staff areas.
On art and exhibits, the board thanked volunteers for organizing and rehanging work. Gary Amberik was credited with hanging art and handling a Jessie Morgan piece in the Fireplace Room. The minutes record a new partnership with the Marblehead Arts Association to host a rotating exhibit wall on the main level and note that Bruce Eissner has offered to loan a Dorothy Gillespie work for the Fireplace Room. The donor wall project is being finalized with APLF for production and installation.
Summer Reading program organizers reported participation across age groups and about 350 attendees for the library’s three-day festival; prizes included gift certificates from Saltwater Books in Marblehead. Trustees expressed thanks to volunteers and committee members who helped manage festival logistics.
