Newington Council approves discontinuance and sale of two Bundy Road parcels

The Newington Town Council on Oct. 14 approved the discontinuance and sale of two small parcels comprising a former street stub between 36 and 50 Bundy Road.
Councilor Paige read the resolution specifying the parcels and sale prices: roughly 5,886 square feet to the owner of 36 Bundy Road for $22,365 and roughly 5,951 square feet to the owner of 50 Bundy Road for $22,615. The amounts were based on an August 8, 2025 appraisal by Galvin Appraisal Services LLC, and the plan accompanying the resolution was dated Oct. 8, 2025 and signed by Town Engineer Chris Vidio.
The resolution authorized Town Manager Jonathan Alchel to execute closing agreements with the buyers. Councilors thanked the property owners for their patience during the multi‑year administrative process; the motion carried unanimously.
Council discussion briefly turned to the disposition of proceeds. Councilor Draco asked whether the unexpected net receipts could be directed into the town’s land acquisition fund; the manager indicated staff would check financing procedure and that a council resolution could be placed on a future agenda to transfer proceeds if appropriate.
Next steps: the town manager will execute sale agreements and proceed to close according to the approved resolution; staff will report back on the procedure to allocate sale proceeds if council wishes to deposit funds into a restricted land acquisition account.
