Antwanet Serrano honored as Newington's 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year

Councilors individually praised Serrano for classroom impact and authorship of children's books. "If your students love you, that says enough," one councilor said.
The council motion to adopt the proclamation carried unanimously. Serrano thanked the council, described feedback from her students about listening and making learning fun, and said she looked forward to continuing her work in Newington.
The proclamation will be dated Oct. 28, 2025, and stands as the council's official recognition of Serrano's award.
