The City of Bowie’s Workforce Training Center will move to reduced hours — Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. — beginning June 30, city program coordinator K Star announced. The change is intended to concentrate staff resources while maintaining free services for job seekers.
K Star, program coordinator for the City of Bowie Workforce Development Programs, said the center will continue to offer free one-on-one help with job searches and online applications. "You can come down and we will show you how to search for jobs in the county," K Star said.
Ann, a staff member at the Workforce Training Center, described the center’s range of services: mock interview preparation, resume review and professional resume building from scratch, interview coaching and broader career guidance. She also said the center provides access to computers, internet access and printing to support job applications and certification training information.
Staff asked residents who need help getting started with their job search to visit the Kinhill Center during the new hours. For more information, staff directed listeners to the city’s workforce training web page and the center’s contact resources provided during the announcement.
The announcement did not include a detailed staffing or budget change tied to the hours adjustment. City staff did not state whether longer evening or weekend hours will be offered at other locations. The center’s new hours and the effective date were the only formal changes described during the recorded announcement.
