Fourth- and fifth-grade Sound Masters perform at Smith-Green board meeting

The Smith-Green Community Schools board meeting on Dec. 15 included a student spotlight featuring the Sound Masters, a fourth- and fifth-grade choir of about 24 students.
Mr. Polley introduced the group and named the students present, including Lillian Jetmore, Zoe Crider, Mariah, Leila and Charlotte. The students recounted recent appearances — a Veterans Day program that included a presentation by the American Legion and a town Christmas tree lighting — and said the choir would appear at the Fame Festival in Fort Wayne (March 14–15) and at the district’s fourth- and fifth-grade concert on March 19.
Charlotte, a fifth-grade member of the choir, said performing has helped her gain confidence: "We have a lot of performances ... helps me get like singing and performing in front of a lot of people." The presenter said the group meets weekly during the enrichment period and that administrators hope to schedule additional appearances, including performances at a nursing home.
The board also used the meeting to recognize a staff member (Mrs. Hoover) selected for the monthly staff spotlight after multiple student nominations, and to note community donations that supported athletics and student services.
The meeting proceeded to routine business after the student presentation.
