District unveils new ParentSquare-integrated website to centralize communications

Smith-Green Community Schools staff presented a redesigned district website at the Jan. 6 meeting, describing a consolidated “one‑stop” site integrated with ParentSquare that will sync calendar events, news and parent messages.
The presenter — identified in the meeting as Mrs. Hers with technical assistance from Paul — said the new site reduces clicks, opens previews rather than forcing downloads, links directly with ParentSquare so a calendar event or message updates both the app and the website, and includes clickable images and department pages for easier navigation. The presenter said the district is converting existing content rather than rebuilding from scratch and is removing outdated or duplicate items as part of the rollout.
Staff demonstrated draft pages including district news, department quick links (food service, health services, human resources) and said Region 8 will help integrate external systems so users are routed to partner pages when needed. The presenter noted the site is mobile friendly because it uses ParentSquare, and staff will train secretaries at each school to maintain pages and upload documents, menus and photos.
The board encouraged staff to solicit parent and teacher testers for mobile previewing and to continue polishing the site before public rollout. No vote was required; staff said the district page is live in draft form and more school-specific pages will be populated through the school year.
