Marquette County considers second‑shift mobile crisis response as clinical services report shows steady crisis demand

Dawn Woodard presented the Clinical Services Program report to the Human Services Board on April 4, saying the unit received 21 crisis calls since the last report, had two calls that involved the jail, five emergency detentions, five individuals in long‑term placement and 19 referrals.
Woodard described progress on community recovery supports: Unity Recovery held a second town hall with about 20 attendees, staff have identified a location for a drop‑in center, selected a name and are advertising for a peer specialist. Woodard said a Department of Justice grant will fund mental health essentials training in April and mental health first aid training in May.
The board discussed using grant funds to create or expand mobile crisis coverage. Woodard said staff are considering hiring a second‑shift mobile response unit through a grant and plan to meet again with the Sheriff's Office before making a final decision, outlining both pros and cons of the grant-funded staffing approach.
The board accepted the 2024 Community Support Program annual report with no questions recorded.
