Marquette County declares World Migratory Bird Day and backs Knowles‑Nelson stewardship reauthorization

Resolution No. 33‑2025, also introduced by Borzick and McGwin, expresses the board’s support for reauthorizing the Knowles‑Nelson Stewardship Program and requests that the Wisconsin Legislature and governor fully fund Stewardship projects over the next 10 years. The resolution states Marquette County has received nearly $10 million in Stewardship grant funds supporting 97 projects and cites the program’s role in preserving natural areas, protecting water quality, and supporting outdoor recreation and tourism.
The board voted to adopt both resolutions as part of the consent agenda; the clerk will forward copies of the Stewardship resolution to state legislators and the governor as requested.
