Marquette County committee approves two rezones and forwards them to County Board

The Marquette County Planning and Zoning Committee voted April 3 to approve two rezone applications and forward both to the County Board for final action.

Planning & Zoning Administrator Jean Potter summarized an application by Darcy and Jeffrey Rataczak to reclassify a 10-acre parcel (Lot 2 CSM 3131, part of the SW ¼ of the SE ¼, Section 6, T14N R10E) from Prime Agriculture (AG-1) to General Agriculture (AG-2). Potter said the Town Board and Plan Commission supported the request; adjacent landowner Fred Wollenberg voiced support while also noting concerns. Kathy Jo Locke moved to approve and forward the rezone; Dave Benson seconded. The committee carried the motion 5-0.

Potter also presented a rezone filed by Timothy and Gina McReath for lands in Section 25, T15N R9E in the Town of Packwaukee. Under the proposal, roughly 3 acres around the existing dwelling would be reclassified to Agriculture Residential (AG-3(2)) and about 37 acres would be placed in a Farmland Preservation Overlay (FPO); a certified survey map with an easement is being prepared. Potter said the owners are selling the house and 3-acre parcel to their son and that both the Town Board and the Plan Commission approved. John Bennett moved to approve and forward the rezone; Dave Benson seconded. The motion carried 5-0.

Both applications will be considered next by the Marquette County Board. Town and Plan Commission approvals, the presence of supporting adjacent-owner comment and the certified survey work were cited in committee discussion as reasons for advancing the items.
