Peoria Public Schools trustees opened a reorganizational meeting after adjourning the noon session, swore in two new board members and confirmed several officer appointments and policies.
Andres Diaz and Sarah Howard each took the oath of office. Diaz said he would "fight for the families of District 150" and Howard said she wanted greater transparency and community input on major decisions.
In reorganizational business the board moved to make the sitting secretary the secretary pro tem until an annual evaluation is completed; the amendment to the original motion passed in a roll-call vote. The board also confirmed Dr. Michael Curry as treasurer for the 2026–27 school year in a unanimous roll-call vote.
The board postponed (tabled) a separate motion to appoint an assistant board secretary (Lisa Holford) pending evaluations and further discussion; trustees said staff evaluations should be shared with new members before finalizing personnel appointments.
Finally, trustees adopted the policies of the immediate past board (the district policy manual) and the board agreement on the focus of work and the code of conduct for 2026–27; those motions passed in recorded roll-call votes during the reorganizational meeting.
