The motion was made by Triche and seconded by Mamou and passed on a 9–0 roll call with two absences recorded.
The board also accepted Change Order 1 from N-Y Associates for value engineering, elevation adjustments and plumbing tie-ins on the New Fieldhouse Project at West St. John High School; the change order was an $87,889.00 credit and carried on a 9–1 vote (Burl opposed, Frizzell absent). Mr. Ryan Smith of Volkert presented both change orders to the board.
Procurements and vendor approvals for the 2025–26 school year were approved as recorded in the minutes: - Food bids (frozen foods, meat, processed foods, milk, bread): Pon Food Corporation, Borden’s Dairy, Flowers Baking of New Orleans (Consent Items 8a–8e) — approved (8 yeas, 1 abstention – Burl, 2 absent). - Large equipment: Douglas Food Stores; Associated Food & Equipment; Lafayette Restaurant & Supply — approved (10 yeas, 1 absent). - Small equipment: Economical; Singer Equipment Co.; Quill LLC — approved (10 yeas, 1 absent). - Transporting USDA commodities: Second Harvest — approved (10 yeas, 1 absent). - Cleaning supplies: Economical Janitorial Supplies; Quill LLC; SFS PAC — approved (10 yeas, 1 absent). - Paper supplies: Economical Janitorial Supplies; Ascension Paper; Pon Food Corporation; Interboro Corporation — approved (9 yeas, 1 absent, 1 abstention — Burl).
The board approved hiring a moving company to assist with district moves (Fifth Ward Elementary to East St. John Prep; John L. Ory, Milesville staff and some central office staff to Leon Godchaux Junior High). Motion by Mitchell-Williams; second by Vicknair. The motion passed 9–1 with one member opposing (Burl) and one absent.
The board also approved professional cleaning for Leon Godchaux Junior High and appointed Shawn Wallace, Samuel Mamou, Sherry DeFrancesch, Raydel Morris and Charo Holden to the Land and Facilities Committee; those motions passed by recorded vote as reflected in the minutes.
The meeting included a district update from Superintendent Perry and recognition of students for ACT and WorkKeys scores. The meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
