At a special meeting May 4, the Deep River Board of Selectmen recorded three formal votes on routine business.
The board approved three tax refunds totaling $548.48. Cynthia Torres moved the measure and Duane Gates seconded; the vote passed 3-0.
The board voted to move the proposed town budget to a public referendum scheduled for May 26, 2026, with polling hours from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Duane Gates moved the motion; Cynthia Torres seconded. Vote: 3-0.
The nomination of Juanita Figueroa to the Community Health Committee (term ending 12/1/2026) was postponed so Selectmen Gates and Torres could speak with her; First Selectman Carol Jones had already spoken with Figueroa. Duane Gates moved to table the item and Cynthia Torres seconded; the board voted 3-0 to table.
