Select Board weighs larger containers, seeks two attendants after transfer station overload

The chair reported an unexpected weekend surge at the town transfer station that left the 40-yard container full by 9:30 a.m. Sunday and also filled the bulky-item bin. He said the town is evaluating options that include larger containers (50-yard and even 100-yard units were mentioned) if the trend continues.
"We couldn't fit anymore... we'll see if this happens again. I think if it continues we'll need to think through another strategy," the chair said, noting the town learned of facilities that can provide larger-capacity containers.
The board also announced that a transfer-station attendant resigned over the weekend and the town is recruiting two attendants to improve coverage. Officials asked residents to recommend candidates and said hiring would proceed to restore full staffing.
