Executive director reports maintenance progress, monthly resident events; garden boxes and vacancies noted

Executive Director David Schumacher updated the East Hampton Housing Authority on maintenance and resident services at the authority’s April 16 meeting at Bellwood Court.
Schumacher told the board that handicap ramps have been installed at all but one location and that both Bellwood gazebos are completed and connected to electricity. He said a water issue at Chatham has been fixed and the authority is awaiting the bill. Schumacher announced that outdoor picnics will be held monthly at both locations for the summer, that air-conditioning units should operate for both cooling and heat, that rent recertification paperwork must be submitted as soon as possible, and that renters rebate applications are available in the community rooms.
The board reported that Bellwood garden boxes have been ordered and are expected to be installed next week. The authority also recorded two current vacancies at Bellwood and one vacancy at Chatham.
During public comment, residents raised maintenance concerns. Marilyn Gerzabek (11 Bellwood) asked about snow guards, heat pump filters and fire blankets at Bellwood; Shelley Grendzinski (E-7) asked whether porches would be cleared; Barbara Brusseau (23 Bellwood) raised questions about flooring and about residents breaking down boxes for disposal. Katrina Harzman (C-7) thanked the board for its work.
Board members were given financial statements to review; the minutes note there are no outstanding bills at this time. The liaison report said the Commission on Aging is concentrating on support for the senior center and planning a November expo. Board member Dave McGovern said he had been told of a dispute between two residents and that he would address it.
The meeting record shows routine governance actions were approved: the agenda was adopted with the addition of an executive session, the March 19 minutes were approved, and the meeting was adjourned after the executive session. Votes are recorded in the minutes as “voted 4-0” for those motions; the minutes list five members as present but do not record individual vote names.
The board entered an executive session at 10:35 a.m. and ended it at 11:05 a.m.; the minutes do not specify the session’s subject or any resulting action. The meeting adjourned at 11:06 a.m.
