Delaware County approves formation of regional transit authority to support growing ridership

Andy Vonick of Delaware County Transit described the reorganization as a response to growth in ridership and population, saying the authority will allow the agency to structure its board and operations for broader service coverage. "This provides a legal framework for us to execute that and improve upon the service that has already seen massive improvements," Vonick said.
Commissioners responded that the county is one of the state's fastest‑growing jurisdictions and that monthly ridership figures support expanding and formalizing transit governance. The board approved Resolution 26‑466 to create the regional transit authority; transcript remarks indicated Commissioner Gary Merrell was absent for the vote.
