Commission sets summer lake level 2–4 inches below dam after split vote

The Conservation-Lake Commission voted 4-2 to set the summer target lake level at 2–4 inches below the top of the dam. Chairman Jason Hartling moved the measure and Steve Hardenburg seconded; Commissioners Chuck Yenkner and Robert Hart voted against the motion.
The commission discussed whether to lower the lake two to four inches or six inches below the dam for the summer months; Hartling said he had conferred with the Bevins in advance of the meeting. Members additionally agreed to continue outreach for the Lake Smart education program and planned an article for RiverEast to remind the community the program is ongoing.
Next steps: the lake level will be set to 2–4 inches below the top of the dam for summer months as directed by the commission.
