The Marlborough City Council on Monday approved creation of a stabilization account tied to Lizard Drive and authorized transfers totaling $200,000.
Councilor Irish reported the Finance Committee recommended creating the Lizard Drive stabilization account and moving funds from undesignated free cash. On the council floor, members voted to suspend the rules and approve two transfers: $50,000 to a West Side fire station stabilization account and $150,000 into the newly created Lizard Drive stabilization account. The motions carried by unanimous voice votes.
Councilor Irish said the committee had reviewed the transfer request and that the measures would provide funds for planned stabilization work. At the same Finance Committee meeting, the committee also recommended a seven‑step salary ordinance for several positions; the council suspended rules and voted to advertise the salary ordinance with an effective date of August 1, 2026.
The council recorded no dissent and adjourned after completing the evening's business.
