The CTE recruitment/admission/retention policy will guide admissions and, where applicable, allow the district to charge tuition to sending towns for out-of-district students in specified programs. During discussion a committee member described the out-of-district vocational reimbursement as determined “by formula” and noted a working figure of about $25,000 per student, excluding certain budget items. Presenters said their programs are generally full, with potential capacity in specific areas (horticulture and, with a new facility, automotive and a planned electricity program) that could allow a limited number of tuition-paying students from other towns.
Both templates were approved by roll-call vote with unanimous consent recorded in the transcript. Committee members said they will revisit tuition agreements and legalities of out-of-district reimbursement in subsequent subcommittee or finance discussions.
