Carlisle trust seeks $200,000 in CPA funds for Bog House renovation

The Carlisle Affordable Housing Trust on March 19 reviewed renovation plans for the Bog House and agreed to seek funding from town sources to advance the project. John Ballantine, chair of the trust, opened discussion after trustees reported generally favorable feedback from the Conservation Commission and the Trails Committee.
Town Planner Julie Mercier noted that the Historic Commission would like the exterior appearance preserved and recommended hiring an Article 97 consultant to guide any actions that may implicate Article 97 protections. Trustees said they were seeking additional bids after a proposal from Nitsch Engineering came in higher than expected; the trust is considering a bid from Landtech.
Trustees discussed asking Town Meeting and the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) for $200,000 to support the project, but members cautioned that it was not yet clear whether that amount would be sufficient. Ballantine and other trustees said they expect to have a clearer financial picture by April.
The trust approved its minutes from Feb. 12 and set its next meeting for April 16, 2026. The Bog House funding request and consultant recommendation are expected to be revisited once the trust has additional cost estimates and bid comparisons.
