Residents tell Chester board excavation near Taft Road culverts may threaten wetlands, town pledges review

Residents Gene and Rebecca Boisseau of 25 Taft Road reported to the Chester Select Board on May 4 that neighbor Adam Wade has been excavating around culverts near wetlands and expressed concern the work is contributing to washouts and long-term damage.
The Boisseaus told the board that prior excavation at their property had required Conservation Commission protocols and that they believe the current work is occurring close to wetlands. They also said they had contacted police multiple times and were told officers wanted photographic evidence before taking further action; they further reported that Adam Wade issued them a no-trespass order.
Select Board member Craig Gauthier said he would review the matter with the Highway Superintendent, and Select Board member Brian Forgue said he would check property lines with the Assessors' Office. Board members noted that portions of Taft Road are private, which limits certain types of town involvement.
The residents' allegations were recorded in public comment; the board did not take formal enforcement action at the meeting and directed staff to review the claims and report back.
