Tega Cay awards $90,000 contract for Windjammer shoreline stabilization

Tega Cay — The City Council unanimously approved a motion Jan. 28 to award the Windjammer Shoreline Stabilization Project Phase 2 to Lake Wy dot Construction LLC for an amount not to exceed $90,000, with the city manager authorized to issue a notice to proceed.
Dustin, a city staff member, told council the Phase 2 work continues last year’s stabilization and involves rip-rap protection around the Windjammer point to guard the park against erosion. “It’s the rip wrap surrounding the point which will protect the point and the park itself from erosion,” Dustin said, and noted the vendor completing phase one submitted the only bid and is familiar with the site.
Staff said the project is a budgeted capital item and would be paid from the city’s capital funds. Council discussed briefly and voted to award the contract unanimously.
Work will proceed under staff direction; council members thanked staff for the presentation and moved on to other agenda items.
