Select Board approves reserve fund transfers to cover ambulance change order and Town Hall flooring

The Charlemont Select Board voted Dec. 16 to approve two reserve fund transfers to cover unexpected costs for the town ambulance and Town Hall flooring.
Valentine Reid, a Select Board member, moved to request a $5,354 transfer from the Reserve Fund to pay a change order on the new ambulance; Kim Blakeslee seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to approve it. The board noted a USDA community facilities grant (about $122,000) could be applied to the ambulance project and that the current stretcher will be compatible with the new vehicle.
The board also voted to request a $4,239.20 transfer from the Reserve Fund to cover the difference between an approved warrant article and a Booska flooring quote for three Town Hall offices. Kim Blakeslee moved the request; the Finance Committee signaled support and the board approved the transfer unanimously.
Both transfers were presented as ways to avoid holding a special Town Meeting. Administrator Sarah Reynolds confirmed the Finance Committee and Select Board motions and said staff will complete the required paperwork to implement the transfers.
The board’s actions follow a change order and vendor estimate dated Oct. 16 (Booska Flooring) and an ambulance invoice/change order from Specialty Vehicles dated Nov. 15, which were reviewed at the meeting. The board did not set any further conditions on the transfers.
