Charlemont Conservation Committee approves TV purchase, will notify Select Board about car-removal shortfall

CHARLEMONT — At its Dec. 12, 2024 meeting, the Charlemont Conservation Committee voted unanimously to buy a television and cart to help the committee administer the town’s Wetlands Protection Fund and agreed to inform the Select Board about a shortfall in car-removal receipts.
The committee, meeting in person and by conference call, opened at 7:05 p.m. with members Bill Harker (acting chair for the evening), Andrea Santos and Clay Herbert present; Scott Randall and Thorne Plamer were absent. The committee first approved the Nov. 14 minutes by unanimous vote.
The committee reviewed receipts for the account labeled “180 8A,” noting a shortfall for the current month and an expected shortfall next month because a staff helper will be off. Members recorded that four vehicles were towed in and removed and three vehicles plus scrap material were removed. The committee decided to write to the Select Board to report the shortfall and to advise the responsible party to catch up; members also agreed to clarify that vehicles sold count toward the monthly removal totals.
On equipment, the secretary said she had asked Mark Stinson whether the committee could use the town’s Wetlands Protection Fund to buy a television to facilitate wetlands administration. Committee members discussed specifications and Clay Herbert moved to purchase a TV and a TV cart (the group discussed at least a 48-inch smart TV); Andrea Santos seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Other routine business included a motion by Bill Harker to send a condolence card to Thorne Plamer and his wife after a family death; that motion passed and the committee signed a card. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.; the next meeting was scheduled for Jan. 9, 2025.
