Select Board recommends public safety building for Town Meeting and approves multiple warrant articles

The Cohasset Select Board on March 24 voted to recommend a proposed Cohasset Public Safety Building (Article 21) at 135 King Street for the 2026 Annual Town Meeting and approved a slate of additional warrant articles.
Interim Town Manager Michelle Leary noted Capital Budget Committee approval of the project and that Advisory Committee review was scheduled. Select Member Paul Grady thanked the Public Safety Facilities Committee and staff for work narrowing options and answering questions from last fall; Chair Ellen Maher echoed appreciation. The board voted unanimously to recommend Article 21 to Annual Town Meeting.
The board also approved initial acceptance of Articles 5 (Unpaid Bills from Previous Years), 6 (Supplemental Appropriation FY2026), 7 (Stabilization and Other Special Funds), 8 (Capital Improvements Budget), 9 (Allocation of Funds for One‑Time Costs), 10 (Departmental Revolving Funds Annual Spending Limits) and 18 (Community Preservation Committee) as presented at the meeting. Select Members moved and seconded the motions; votes were recorded as All Aye.
Interim Town Manager Leary highlighted Article 22, a proposed resolution to pursue municipal greenhouse gas reductions (50% by 2030; 100% by 2050). The Moderator left the decision to include resolutions to the Select Board; Chair Maher asked the Alternative Energy Committee to present the resolution at a future meeting before the board decides whether to place it on the warrant. Article 23 (Stormwater Management Bylaw procedural changes) was approved pending any substantial edits from the Conservation Commission.
Board members said they would revisit any warrant article that changes materially after Advisory Committee review before finalizing their recommendation to the Town Meeting.
