Hillman council honors employee John Burr for 50 years of service, approves routine business

The Village of Hillman Council met Dec. 2 and presented a plaque to employee John Burr commemorating 50 years of service to the village.
President Dave Hornbacher opened the meeting, led the Pledge of Allegiance and ran through routine business. Trustees voted to approve the meeting agenda and the prior meeting’s minutes. Trustee Steve Orlandi moved to pay bills, including additional checks numbered 38094 through 38126; the motion carried after the council answered “All in favor.”
The plaque presentation was a focal moment: President Dave Hornbacher called John Burr forward and presented him with a plaque recognizing five decades of service and announced that a pocket park near the post office will be dedicated in Burr’s name. The recognition followed a brief round of routine administrative actions and public comments earlier in the meeting.
The council completed remaining business and Trustee Steve Orlandi moved to adjourn; Trustee Tom Bouchey seconded and the meeting ended at 6:28 p.m.
