Cheryl Lampasona took the oath and was confirmed as president of the Mineola Union Free School District Board of Education, and Stacy DeSilas was sworn in as vice president during the board's July 1 reorganization meeting.
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance before the board conducted swearing‑in ceremonies for district officials. Cindy Velez was sworn as district clerk. Trustees Steven Blumenthal and Alicia Whitaker Pace repeated the oath of office after being introduced, and Kim Sandoval took the oath as the student representative.
Members then nominated and voted to elect Lampasona as board president; she repeated the oath and thanked colleagues for their support. A motion to nominate Stacy DeSilas as vice president was seconded and DeSilas recited the oath.
The board also reviewed committee and external representation assignments for the year, with trustees volunteering for roles including BOCES representation, health and safety, policy and advocacy duties. Administrators noted some outgoing personnel actions and said appointments tied to those vacancies will require future board action.
The board closed the reorganization portion of the meeting and moved to the business agenda.
