Llano planning commission discusses zoning-use chart changes for shipping containers; no action taken

Llano City Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman John Osbourn called the commission to order at 5:30 p.m. on May 21 at Llano City Hall.

The commission approved the minutes from the March 19, 2026 regular meeting by consent. The meeting then moved to regular agenda items, including proposed changes to the Zoning Use Chart related to shipping containers and a separate discussion about chart definitions.

Commissioners discussed how shipping containers should appear on the Zoning Use Chart and debated related definitions and terminology. The minutes record that the item was discussed but that no motion or vote was recorded; "no action was taken" on the shipping-container proposal. Vice Chair Julie Ireland, board members Diana Firestone, Brian Maples and George Fricke participated in the discussion alongside Chairman Osbourn.

The commission also reviewed and discussed Zoning Use Chart definitions to clarify terminology used in the chart; that discussion likewise did not result in a recorded vote or formal action in the minutes.

Under the meeting’s public-comment procedures, the commission referenced Section 551.042 of the Texas Government Code, noting limits on responses to inquiries not posted on the agenda. Chairman John Osbourn adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m.

The agenda lists the shipping-container item and the definitions discussion as regular items; because no vote or formal action appears in the minutes, both items remain pending for future agenda consideration according to the commission’s normal procedures.
