Wapello County Board approves two union contracts; vice chair abstains on roads deal

The Wapello County Board of Supervisors approved two labor contracts at a special meeting on July 1, 2026. Chair Darren Batterson called the meeting to order at 9:45 a.m., and the board voted on separate agreements covering the county sheriff’s office and the Secondary Roads department.
Vice Chair Carrie Teninty moved, seconded by Supervisor Bryan Ziegler, to approve the Wapello County Sheriff union contract; all present voted "aye" and the motion carried. Later, Chair Darren Batterson moved, seconded by Supervisor Ziegler, to approve the Wapello County Secondary Roads union contract. Chair Batterson and Supervisor Ziegler voted yes; Vice Chair Teninty abstained. The motion carried.
The board then voted to adjourn at 9:57 a.m.; Vice Chair Teninty moved to adjourn, seconded by Supervisor Ziegler, and the motion passed unanimously. Minutes were submitted by Karen Wilcoxson, Assistant to the Board of Supervisors.
