Albany council adopts two grant-funded projects, approves rezoning and sets sewer-fee hearing

The Town of Albany council on Feb. 9 unanimously approved two grant-funded projects, approved rezoning for a commercial storage facility and scheduled a public hearing on proposed sewer tap-in and impact fees.
Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll called the regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Council votes on routine business — approval of the Jan. 2026 minutes and the January financial statements — passed with Councilmembers Jerry Glascock, Gerald Stilley, Don Onofry and John Thomas voting yes; Councilmember K. Stewart was absent.
Chief Boyd Wild gave the police department’s monthly report, summarizing the number of calls for the previous month and for the past year, according to the meeting record. The mayor introduced a proposal to establish sewer tap-in/impact fees and set a public hearing on that proposal for March 9, 2026, at 5:45 p.m.; the hearing will take place immediately before the regular March meeting.
The council moved and approved rezoning of property at 29618 Livingston Ave from residential to commercial so the site can be used as a storage facility for the business Carlos Tires. The motion was made by Councilman Jerry Glascock and seconded by Councilman Don Onofry; the record shows the four present councilmembers voted yes and one member was absent.
Councilmembers also voted to adopt Resolution #001-2026 (LGAP), authorizing a grant to install an automatic transfer switch on the town hall generator. The motion to adopt the LGAP resolution was made by Councilman John Thomas and seconded by Councilman Gerald Stilley; the record shows the vote was unanimous among members present.
The council adopted Resolution #002-2026 (CWEF) to replace and upgrade water lines on Efferson Road in Holden. Councilman Gerald Stilley moved to adopt the CWEF resolution and Councilman Don Onofry seconded; the motion passed with the same recorded vote pattern.
An item on the agenda seeking a frontage-waiver for lots on Sziszak Street from Eric and Heather Crain drew no motion from the council and therefore was not acted on. The meeting was adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
