Corning, Villisca school boards enter closed session to evaluate professional competency of individual

The joint boards of the Corning Community School District and the Villisca Community School District met in special session March 10, 2025, at the Southwest Valley High School board room. President Staci Venteicher called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and listed those present from both districts, including board secretaries and consultant Bob Olson of EDWise Consulting.
During the meeting, board member Stephanie Hodapp moved to approve the agenda; Howard Anderson seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Hodapp then moved, with Adam Boswell seconding, that the boards hold a closed session as allowed under Iowa Code section 21.5(1)(i) “to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when a closed session is necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury,” noting the individual had requested a closed hearing.
By roll-call vote the board recorded Yes votes from Howard Anderson, Adam Boswell, Stephanie Hodapp, Trent Roberts and President Staci Venteicher; No: none. The boards entered closed session at 5:32 p.m. and returned to open session at 6:52 p.m.
After returning to open session, Trent Roberts moved to adjourn; Howard Anderson seconded, the motion carried unanimously, and the meeting adjourned at 6:53 p.m. The transcript records no further action or public comments during the special session.
