Albany council adopts 2025–26 budget, amends current-year budget and approves salaries ordinance

The Albany Town Council on June 9 unanimously adopted the town’s 2025–2026 budget, approved amendments to the 2024–2025 budget and passed an amended salaries ordinance affecting the mayor, council, chief of police, town clerk and water superintendent.

Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll presided over the meeting. The council approved the May 2025 meeting minutes earlier in the session on a motion by Councilman Don Onofry, seconded by Councilman Jerry Glascock; the vote was recorded as unanimous (Yeas: K. Stewart, J. Glascock, G. Stilley, D. Onofry, J. Thomas).

Councilwoman Kim Stewart moved to approve the May 2025 financials; Councilman Gerald Stilley seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting Councilman Gerald Stilley moved to adopt the amended salaries ordinance; Councilman Jerry Glascock seconded and the council voted to adopt it unanimously.

Councilman Don Onofry moved to adopt the 2024–2025 amended budget; Councilwoman Kim Stewart seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Councilman Gerald Stilley then moved to adopt the 2025–2026 budget, seconded by Councilman Don Onofry; the council approved the budget by unanimous vote.
