Joint Corning and Villisca boards vote to enter closed session to evaluate professional competency of an individual

The Boards of Education of the Corning Community School District and the Villisca Community School District met in a special joint session March 17, 2025, in the Southwest Valley High School board room. Corning board president Staci Venteicher called the meeting to order at 4:28 p.m. and noted board members and staff in attendance.

Corning board member Stephanie Hodapp moved that the boards hold a closed session “as provided in Section 21.5(1)(i) of the open meetings law to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation, as that individual has requested a closed session.” Adam Boswell seconded the motion. By roll call vote the motion carried; the minutes record Yes votes from Howard Anderson, Adam Boswell, Stephanie Hodapp, Trent Roberts and Staci Venteicher, and No votes: none.

The boards entered closed session at 4:29 p.m. and returned to open session at 5:34 p.m. The transcript records no additional public actions or votes after the return to open session. Hodapp moved and Boswell seconded a motion to adjourn, which carried unanimously; the meeting adjourned at 5:42 p.m.
