The Lef Parish School Board adopted a resolution honoring Dr. Wade Roose following a reading that recounted his local roots and academic accomplishments and praised his appointment as the 29th president of Louisiana State University.
Board members — several of whom described personal ties to Dr. Roose and to local schools — expressed pride in his accomplishments before the motion to adopt the resolution carried by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the board conducted nominations and an election for officers to serve one‑year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026. Members nominated Dr. Dennis Guillot for president; nominations were closed and Guillot was elected president. Tina Babin was elected vice president after ballots were cast; the clerk read a result of 6–3 in her favor. Both officers expressed appreciation and pledged to work with colleagues to support students and staff.
The board concluded the meeting with holiday well‑wishes to staff, students and families and unanimously adjourned.
