He described existing shapes already placed and noted oysters have begun to grow on them. Ball said the shapes under consideration would be heavier and higher than the initial test shapes and designed for easy installation by district crews.
Board members said they were generally supportive in concept but that a formal vote would require an agenda amendment and firm, written details: placement maps, exact linear footage, final cost breakdown and monitoring plans (how long the contractor would monitor performance and what metrics would be tracked). Staff said they would request a written packet from Ball with those details and add the item to a future agenda for a recorded vote.
No formal funding vote was taken at the meeting; the board discussed procedures for amending the agenda and emphasized that legal review and clear dollar commitments would be required before the district signs agreements or provides matching funds.
