At the Oct. 21 meeting the Iberville Parish Council accepted a $10,000 Good Neighbor Grant from ExxonMobil for the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Michael Smith, representing ExxonMobil, said the award will enhance emergency-preparedness electronics and capabilities and described the company's competitive national grant program.
Parish leaders thanked ExxonMobil and noted a related morning presentation at White Castle High School, where ExxonMobil also helped launch a new STEM program. Michael Smith was joined by Randy Hadad and another company colleague during the presentation.
Separately, the council proclaimed October 2025 as Manufacturing Month and heard brief remarks from David Creson, president of the Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA). Creson thanked the parish and praised the manufacturing sector's role in employment and tax revenues as described in the proclamation.
The donations and proclamations are ceremonial but signal industry support for local emergency preparedness and workforce development. The parish will receive the grant check and coordinate with the homeland security office on equipment and preparedness planning.
